Garage Flat Roofs by Endura Flat Roofing in Newcastle upon Tyne and across the North East
Here’s how we do it:
Assuming the existing bitumen felt flat roof is solid and not water damaged our first job is to strip the old roofing membrane off around the perimeter and upstands as appropriate for the particular roof. We also remove any lumps and bumps that could affect the fall.
We then grind out a nice deep chase in any upstands to allow the rubber membrane to be properly flashed into the wall. Then a quick clean up and dry of the roof as required and we are ready to begin installing the new roof deck.
A new OSB3 Smart Ply flat roof deck is then installed. If the roof is not falling correctly and suffering from ponding issues we will either pack the new deck or install timber firrings to achieve the correct fall and ensure efficient water run off.
The Firestone RubberCover EPDM single ply membrane is then fitted to the garage flat roof making it watertight. This is achieved with a single sheet of EPDM single ply membrane with no seams or joints depending on the shape of the flat roof.
The garage flat roof is then completed with high quality Kerb and Gutter Trims as required.
Your new rubber garage roof comes with a 20yr membrane guarantee. As the longest lasting flat roofing membrane on the market with a lifespan of 40-50yrs you are unlikely to ever need think about your garage roof again. JOB DONE.

Garage Flat Roof FAQ’s
-
Typically £1,500–£3,500 replaced in EPDM rubber. The honest truth is we hardly ever see a simple garage — there’s nearly always something involved: a boiler flue, pipes coming in, timber repairs, scaffold. The full breakdown of what moves the price is in our cost guide, and for most garages we can give you a ballpark over the phone.
-
Most garage roofs take a day or two on site - and your roof is watertight the same day it’s stripped; we don’t leave roofs open overnight. Timber repairs, scaffold or structural work can add time, and your quote will say so before we start. description
-
Very possibly - it’s common on older garages. Our team is trained in asbestos awareness, so we know how to identify it, and removal is done by a licensed removal firm. If we know about it in advance, it’s itemised in your quote. If it turns up mid-job, we pause and talk to you before anything else happens — nothing is ever added to your bill without a conversation first.
-
Not quite — rubber never goes straight onto felt. What’s real is the overlay method: your existing felt stays where it is, we build a whole new deck over the top of it, and the EPDM goes on that. Done properly it’s a very good method - and building the new deck lets us correct the fall at the same time. It only works if what’s underneath is sound, and it usually suits non-habitable roofs like garages, because lived-in rooms need insulation to meet building regulations.l.
-
No - the team on your roof are employed by Endura, trained by the membrane manufacturer, in our vans. The two honest exceptions are specialist trades: scaffolding above first-floor height, and asbestos removal
-
Yes - we work all year round, with products designed to be applied in all weathers. The only time we stand down is a handful of heavy-rain days each year: we won’t take your roof off while it’s pouring.
-
It all goes with us. We hold a waste carrier licence and everything we strip is disposed of through a licensed waste company - on bigger jobs we’ll arrange a skip. Worth knowing: your waste is legally your responsibility, so you can and should ask any contractor for their waste carrier licence number and check it on the Environment Agency’s public register. Ask us - we’ll show you ours.
