Sun-room-roof-rescue - Whittonstall

This customer had already paid another contractor for a rubber roof on her sun room - it was fitted incorrectly, it was leaking badly, and she had no recourse with that contractor. Eventually she found us. The good news we could give her: the insulation underneath was intact, so she didn't need a full replacement warm deck - just the membrane, correctly fitted this time. We don't replace what doesn't need replacing.

The roof's design was also overly complicated. Something we see often. It had an internal drain and an inadequate, poorly designed fall. So we removed the old membrane, created an external outlet from the box gutter that eliminated the internal drain entirely, and installed a new external hopper to the downpipe making good the slate abutment and soffit cladding as we went. The result is a much simpler roof that actually drains beautifully.

New SmartPly deck, EPDM in one piece, correctly flashed and sealed at the roof light, box gutter and outlets, slates reinstated, anthracite trims on, everything cleared away. They were delighted. What a beautiful room they can now enjoy!
